PITTSFIELD -- Joe Bilotta Jr., a former investigator for Equifax Inc., was installed as the 15th president of the Pittsfield chapter of UNICO National at its annual dinner dance recently at Mazzeo's Ristorante.

Bilotta was installed by past-President Paul Capitanio. Past-Presidents Judge Rudy Sacco, Vito Salatino, Joseph Bonacquisti and Steve Romano were also in attendance.

Other newly elected executive officers include First Vice President Joseph Zavatarro, Second Vice President Francis Sanginetti, Secretary Michael Evans, Treasurer Paul Procopio, Financial Secretary Ido Merlini and Sergeant-at-Arms Thomas Blair.

The newly elected board of directors includes Peter Vacchina, Len Gigliotti, Peter Sondrini, Derek Garofano, James Fabino, Jamie DiMassimo, Bruno Lovato and Chris Barbarotta.

Capitanio presented the Man of the Year award to Zavatarro, the Unican Outstanding Service Award to Sanginetti and the President's Award to Bonacquisti.

Bilotta joined UNICO in 1992 and has been an active member of the charity board of directors and Make-A-Wish Committee. A former Wish Granter, he and the rest of the Unicans have granted 64 wishes to Berkshire County children afflicted with terminal and life-threatening illnesses. Bilotta also has been a key member of UNICO's most popular event and main fund-raiser, the annual UNICO Golf Classic, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Berkshire Hills Country Club.

Bilotta is associated with the DARE program, is a former UNICO Man of the Year and is a President's Award winner of Citizens Against Child Abuse.

In his inaugural speech, he informed the attendees that his election to the presidency was the highlight of his career. He stated that the goals of his new administration will be to support and raise funds for the Quinn Connally Foundation, Quinn's Legacy, and the Jimmy "V" Foundation.

A native of Pittsfield, Bilotta graduated from Pittsfield High School. He is a member of the Italian-American Club and has been its treasurer for many years. A golfer, he is also a member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club.

Bilotta resides at 27 Burns St. with his wife, Kim. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.
